Lorenz Mooij, Technical Director of NU Projectontwikkeling in The Hague, speaking about the cooperation with Energie Excellent.
What exactly is NU Projectontwikkeling?
We realize real estate projects as developers. Our primary focus is on the construction of sustainable housing, combined with commercial spaces depending on the location. We operate in the The Hague – Rotterdam metropolitan region and have developed many and especially diverse projects since our founding in 2014. We are developing most of the housing in the social and affordable segment. But we have now also made our mark with homes in the more expensive segment.
Why did you partner with EAB Excellent?
As a property developer, we regularly deal with (commercial) properties that are purchased for later development. Because that often takes years, those properties are rented out on an interim basis. Initial contacts were related to contracting energy contracts for such properties. Sometimes projects are owned and leased. EAB Excellent also negotiated energy contracts for us for these projects.
How do you experience cooperation and our services?
You can tell from everything that EAB Excellent knows how the energy market works. The advice has always added value and it is also “easy” for us. We know the staff and they are easily accessible. The advantage for our tenants is that they do not have to go out and contract with an energy supplier themselves, and in addition, the energy is purchased competitively for them.
Meanwhile, EAB Excellent is also helping us with solar panel projects. Especially when dealing with the grid operator, the metering company and suppliers who buy and sell power, as a “layman” it is nice to leave that to a party who does not do anything else all day and has direct contacts.
Do you have any tips for EAB Excellent to work even better together and improve services?
EAB Excellent has tools to monitor energy consumption. I find that we don’t give ourselves the time to do that every month for a while. I can imagine that when I get a summary like this sent to me monthly by mail, I definitely want to read that information. Monitoring is already available and perhaps sending the mail can be easily automated.
